In a standard wood shop, there is always a variety of different machinery and tools working away. Students will spend hours making unique creations out of a small block of wood. After finding the perfect design, they will turn to sanding and smoothing out all of the imperfections. Inevitably, sawdust gets everywhere. And one of the basic properties of sawdust is that it is flammable.

Projectors generate a very large amount of heat when in operation, and require one crucial thing to work correctly: air. A consistent airflow is needed to make sure the wood shop projector’s components are constantly being cooled. While having a projection display in a wood shop is useful, the filters that the projector is equipped with are not designed for anything less than a clean room. Eventually, the sawdust generated from projects will clog the fan system. When the fan system does not cool the unit down properly, more and more heat will build up inside the device. This will not only ruin the life expectancy of your bulb, but possibly turn the projector into a self-contained pyrotechnics display when the heat begins to affect the sawdust.

There is a simple solution to this dilemma, and it is called a projector enclosure. Placing your projector inside a projector enclosure provides a layer of protection from any contaminates in the air. Some enclosures will even equip your wood shop projector with a pre-filter as a second line of defense, as well as a thermostatic control that only runs the cooling system after a certain point. This ensures maximum life expectancy from your projector bulb, and all you will need to do is change the filter occasionally. With the conditional settings, you will be conserving energy as an additional bonus.
