Why is humidity worth worrying about? Because projectors and humidity do not mix well. Humidity is not just bad for your hair and personal comfort, it is also extremely bad for your electronic device’s lifespan. This super fine mist is equivalent to giving your projector a slow shower for as long as it is present. The resulting moisture makes the heat more intense and causes your projector to work much harder to stay cool. When combined with environmental particulates or dust, humidity creates a concern far worse: mud.

Humid air that is mixed with dust and particulates will clog the filter even faster than normal. The muddy build-up further limits the air intake into the projector, causing the device to overheat quickly. To make matters worse, the moisture that is in the air and carried through your projector will inevitably settle on a metal surface inside the device. This creates the opportunity for corrosion and other concerns that will lead to certain and permanent failure.

So, how do you combat the humidity and its effects on your electronic equipment? Believe it or not, you actually need to heat the incoming air supply in order to dry it out. By drying the air, you remove the moisture and give your equipment a normal airflow. However, it is not as simple as placing a blow dryer in front of your intake. Just heating the air will cause more problems than it fixes. With a weatherproof enclosure, you can equip your projector with a specialty heating and cooling system. This will heat the initial air intake while cooling the area around the projector itself.

If you have a permanent or fixed projector that runs in an environment with high heat and possibly extreme temperatures, your projector is in danger. It will likely get very hot and stay hot, which is not good for the projector or the lamp life. Say goodbye to humidity issues by installing it in a projector enclosure.
